The Robotics Education & Competition (REC) Foundation seeks to increase student interest and involvement in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on, sustainable and affordable curriculum-based robotics engineering programs.
By partnering with universities and colleges to offer a scholarship program, the REC Foundation hopes to encourage students in our programs to continue their education and pursue careers in STEM.

The Ohio State University at MarionThe Ohio State University at Marion is offering multiple scholarships at $2,400 renewable up to a total of $11,200 to high school seniors and college students. Scholarships are based on either financial need or academic merit. Academic merit scholarships require a minimum 3.0+ GPA. Applicants must be residents of the State of Ohio and attending the University full time. Applicants may be enrolled in any STEM field and must submit an essay to apply. Florida Institute of TechnologyThe Florida Institute of Technology is offering ten scholarships at $15,000 per year, renewable for four years. The scholarships require that students are admitted to the Florida Institute of Technology. Candidates must be members of a VEX robotics team during their senior year in high school. Proof of affiliation at the time of admission is a requirement.

Rensselaer Polytechnic InstituteRensselaer Polytechnic Institute will provide 10 scholarship of $10,000 renewable up to 4 years to students who participate in the VRC. Students may pursue any field of academic study. The scholarship is open to US as well as international students. Applications should be submitted by students in their Junior year of high school. Applicants will also be required to submit a letter of recommendation from a team adult mentor/coach and a personal essay.

Northrop Grumman Corporation Engineering ScholarsApplications will be accepted starting in November for the 15th annual Northrop Grumman Corporation Engineering Scholars scholarship, which will provide $400,000 in college scholarships across Maryland and other locations in the United States to promising high-school seniors interested in studying engineering.
Individual scholarships of $8,000, payable in $2,000 installments over four years, will be awarded to a qualified graduating high school senior in each of Maryland’s 23 counties, Baltimore City, and thirteen other locations across the United States. University of DenverThe Daniel Felix Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Denver offers multiple scholarships to admitted students totaling $250,000. National Society of Black EngineersThe REC Foundation is proud to partner with The National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) in support of robotics programs for students in the United States. NSBE provides 47 scholarships totaling over $250,000 annually. Students must be members of NSBE to be eligible for the scholarships. Kettering UniversityKettering University will provide up to 10 scholarships with a value up to $5,000 renewable up to 4.5 years to students who participate in the VRC program. Students must be full time and may pursue any field of academic study.
The scholarship is open to US citizens. Applicants do not have to be residents of the State of Michigan to apply. Applications should be submitted by students in their Senior year of high school. Two letters of recommendation are required. One of the letters of recommendation must be from a team adult mentor/coach. Applicants must also submit a personal essay. Rose-Hulman Institute of TechnologyUp to five scholarships will be presented at the Indianapolis VRC competition to the winners of the Excellence Award. Each Scholarship is valued at $10,000 for four years. Students must apply and be accepted to The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. This Scholarship is open to high school juniors and seniors. Great Minds in STEMThe REC Foundation is proud to partner with Great Minds inSTEM™. Great Minds in STEM™ is the gateway for Hispanics in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). Established in 1989, as HENAAC, Great Minds in STEM™ is a non-profit organization that focuses on STEM educational awareness programs for students from kindergarten to career. The HENAAC Scholars Program addresses the immense need that the United States has to produce more domestic engineers and scientists. The goal of the program is to ensure STEM college retention with a 3.0 grade point average or higher; to guarantee college graduation with an undergraduate technical degree in four-five years; and, to contribute to Hispanic communities by producing STEM role models for future generations and securing the country’s place as the finest technological leader in the world. Scholarships range from $500-$10,000.

Ronald McDonald House CharitiesRonald McDonald House Charities provides numerous scholarships ranging in value from $1,000 to $100,000. Applicants must have senior level standing in high school with a minimum 2.76 GPA. Scholarships will be given for both financial need and academic merit to full time students planning to attend accredited post-secondary institutions, vocational or technical schools. These scholarships are open to US citizens and permanent residents.

Each year WPI will award a grand prize scholarship of $80,000 ($20,000 per year, for four years) and two runner-up scholarships of $10,000 ($2,500 per year, for four years).

Arizona State UniversityThe Arizona State University offers up to six scholarships of $3,000 per year, renewable for up to 5 years to full time ASU students who are studying the fields of Engineering, Computer Science and Construction. Applicants must be admitted as an undergraduate student to ASU’s Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering for the upcoming academic year and have been a participant in at least one full season of a regional or national science, math or engineering competition within the past two years.

Sullivan College of Technology and DesignSullivan College of Technology and Design is pleased to offer 15 scholarships valued at $3,000 per year renewable up to a total of $6,000 each to residents of Kentucky and Indiana. Applicants must have competed in the VEX robotics program and must currently be in their junior or senior year of high school. Applicants must meet the entry requirements for the Sullivan College of Technology and Design and be students at the college to receive the scholarship.

Wheaton CollegeWheaton College will provide 1 scholarship of $20,000 per year renewable up to 4 years to students who participate in the VRC program. Students may pursue any field of academic study. The scholarship is open to US as well as international students. Applications should be submitted by students in their Junior or Senior year of high school. Applicants must apply to Wheaton College and be accepted to Wheaton college to be eligible. The successful applicant must maintain a 3.0 GPA while at Wheaton College. The scholarship will be integrated with need based eligibility by Wheaton college.

Indiana University–Purdue University IndianapolisThe Purdue School of Engineering and Technology, IUPUI is offering three scholarships to students who have competed in the VEX® robotics competition and will graduate from high schools (or who were home schooled) in Indiana. There are one $4,000 scholarship for students with a minimum HS GPA of 3.5 and two $1,000 scholarships for students with a minimum HS GPA of 3.0 available. Each of these scholarships is renewable annually for up to four years. Students must pursue a degree in Engineering or Technology at IUPUI and be residents of the state of Indiana. Applicants are required to submit essay questions and a letter of recommendation from a team mentor.
